Antelope Canyon, Arizona
I chose to forgo the more popular, tour-guided Antelope Canyon for a less traveled slot canyon, Water Holes.
After purchasing a hiking permit from the Navajo Tribal office and driving to the entrance, stacks of rocks served as a trail guide to lead us down.
Rugged and winding, we traversed through with a new travel buddy—a middle-aged man from Belgium who had to leave his wife at the top. We shared (surprisingly similar) travel itineraries and helped each other through hard to climb areas.
